How much does a hardscaping project cost?
The cost depends on the size of the area, the materials you choose, the site grading, the drainage the property needs, and access for equipment. Base preparation moves the number most, because sloped or wet sites need more excavation. Backyard Experts provides free in-home consultations, so the price you receive reflects your actual property.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. Every project starts with a free in-home consultation. We walk the property, look at slopes, drainage, and access, talk through materials and design, and then give you a detailed written estimate. There is no obligation, and we never price a patio or a retaining wall over the phone by square footage alone.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Backyard Experts is licensed and insured in Massachusetts and Google Guaranteed. Proof of insurance is available before your project starts, and our crews follow industry installation guidelines from the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute and the National Concrete Masonry Association for base depth, drainage, and wall reinforcement.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. We back our hardscaping work with a warranty of up to 10 years, depending on the type of project and the materials used. The warranty terms for your project are explained in writing before work begins, and manufacturer warranties on pavers and wall block apply in addition to our own coverage.
How long does a typical project take?
Project length depends on the size of the job, the excavation required, material delivery, and the weather. A small patio or walkway takes far less time than a large retaining wall or a complete backyard. We give you a clear schedule before work begins and keep you updated if rain changes the plan.
Do you provide lawn care or landscaping maintenance?
No. Backyard Experts specializes in hardscaping and masonry: retaining walls, patio pavers, driveways, walkways, pool decks, and steps. We do not provide lawn care, mowing, landscaping, or garden maintenance. After construction, we restore the areas our work disturbed, but ongoing yard care is not part of our services.
What is the difference between pavers and hardscaping?
Hardscaping is every non-living element of an outdoor space, such as patios, walkways, driveways, retaining walls, steps, and pool decks. Pavers are one of the materials used to build them, along with natural stone, wall block, and granite. Backyard Experts designs the hardscape and installs the pavers and stone that make it.
How long do pavers and retaining walls last?
When the base is excavated, compacted, and drained correctly, paver patios, driveways, and retaining walls last for decades. Most failures in New England come from a thin base or missing drainage, not from the pavers themselves. Individual pavers can also be lifted and reset, which is a major advantage over poured concrete.
